Helen Olivia
“Hi I’m Helen Olivia.
I’m from Lancaster and as a nomadic yogi lived and travelled from Manchester, Spain and Bali, but delighted to be growing the loveliest of communities in my homeland town. Having pastimes as a professional dancer - my soul blueprint and then in corporate senior management, I’ve lived both ends of the spectrum and now truly aligned with Yoga and Spirituality.
I have a curious mind, love yoga, music, dogs, astrology, chasing turquoise waters, and creating beautiful learning spaces in workshops, trainings and retreats. Oh, and still love and good dance floor parade.
My teachings come from the heart and offer a continual homecoming. Seasonally inspired, guided by nature and its intrinsic link to our emotional, energetic and physical needs, through eastern philosophy, Daoism, and Tantric wisdom. I lead through the subtle body anatomy (your energy body) to help move through the emotional waves of life’s ebbs and flows, so every time you come to your mat, you return to coherence, through curiosity, insight and compassion, towards your own internal awakening.
My styles are 5 element theory Yin, soulful Seasonal Vinyasa to eclectic beats, Meditation, Pranayama and Restorative yoga. Touching on the spiritual, nurturing, and encouraging curiosity always, this depth is often balanced with spontaneous lighthearted humour, a sense of playfulness, the occasional overshare.”
Awakening Flow
Wednesday’s 6pm
A soulful vinyasa practice connecting to the heart and wisdom of Yoga. Weaving pranayama, mantra and fluid mindful flow into a devotional class that will steady the mind, awaken your spirit and soften your heart. This practice creates the possibility for a living prayer through movement, breath and heart-centered awakening. Expect a fluid, playful, and explorative flow, yet with some familiarity - a space to embody grace.
Embodied Yin
Wednesday’s 7.30pm
A floor based grounding practice holding postures for 3+ minutes a time to target deep layers of connective tissue for deep myofascial release. Feel not only the naturally physical benefits, but also the energetic and emotional. Helens particular guidance is steeped in ancient wisdom of the Dao and organ theory of 5 Element Theory, seasonally tailored to support your body's shifting energetic needs throughout the seasons of nature and life.
Holding postures for several minutes at a time allows the muscles to relax so we get to work deeper into the connective layers of tissue - your myo-fascia. Here we re-aliven joints by allowing the qi (vital life force energy) to flow freely again, unburdening any emotional and energetic blockages which become stored up through day to day living creating restriction and blockages felt as fatigue, tiredness, stress, or imbalanced emotional flavours.
Targeting fascia and joints in this way releases tension, reduces stress and encourages mindfulness and meditation. Continued practice not only rewards the body physically, it breeds emotional buoyancy and resiliency so you can take on all of life.
