Restorative yoga is the practice of intentional stillness and conscious rest.
It's designed to offer the body and mind a profound release from the demands of daily life. Unlike active styles of yoga, this practice is entirely passive. We use an array of props including bolsters, weighted pillows, blankets, blocks and eye pillows to fully support the physical form, allowing the muscles to soften without any effort or strain.
By holding these supported postures for extended periods, we create the optimal conditions for the parasympathetic nervous system to take the lead, moving the body away from activation and towards a state of rest and digest. This shift helps to lower cortisol levels, regulate heart rate and improve sleep quality.
As a somatic-informed practice, Restorative yoga acts as a bridge to the internal self. Through gentle breathwork and quiet observation, you are invited to bypass the analytical mind and drop into the felt sense of the body.
It is a practice of deep yielding, an opportunity to reset, nourish the connective tissues and cultivate a resilient, quiet strength that stays with you long after you leave the mat.
This session will take place on the second Saturday of the month.
